![]() ![]() in one fight you have 5 minutes worth of real-time to beat a vastly OP boss, or else if you don't beat him in 5 minutes of real-time, you lose the chance to get full detective points off of him.Īnd you can't even buy new orbments or weapons or armors or supplies during that segment of the game either, nor can you grind out more levels before that boss, since there are no shops open and there are no enemies to grind just before that boss fight. These games are much closer in difficulty to the Sky games (which are high difficulty) than they are to the Cold Steel games (which are low difficulty).Īnd also, getting all of the detective points even on normal difficulty in the Crossbell games is extremely difficult. Regardless, I'm very much looking forward to playing the crossbell arc. The combat in these Trails games is what I enjoy the most, and the Sky series had some of the most intense boss encounters of any JRPG I have played (on nightmare), you really had to learn the battle system and how to use all the skills to even have a chance. Not like the Cold Steel games in which I quickly lost interest until I started using difficulty mods. Sky the 3rd was definitely the easiest of the sky trilogy on nightmare, but I still thought the difficulty was reasonable. ![]() ![]() ![]() It's unlikely that these new versions change things much in this department, since the updates are more about graphics, QoL options and translation than about redesigning the games from a gameplay point of view. In particular, Zero is considered to be not so difficult even on Nightmare (similar to the Cold Steel games), while Azure is considerably more difficult. Therefore, they're similar Sky the 3rd difficulty levels. Zero and Azure come after Sky the 3rd of course, and as such also have difficulty modifiers integrated in the design from the start. Sky the 3rd, however, was created with all difficulties from the start, which meant even Nightmare difficulty is way more reasonable than in FC and SC. Rudolf von Richten:Trails in the Sky FC and SC had Nightmare difficulties which are disproportionate since the games were never designed with them in mind, and so they were added only later and without much playtesting. ![]()
